900 Numbers in Canada
While 900 numbers in the United States began in earnest in 1989 with AT&T
MultiQuest’s offering, the Canadian 900 number industry did not begin
until 1993 when Stentor began overseeing the provision of 900 numbers in
Canada.
Advanced Telecom Services immediately expanded its efforts to Canada with the
establishment of its first service bureau in Halifax, Nova Scotia in cooperation
with Maritime Telephone & Telegraph (now Aliant)
and a sales office in Mississauga, Ontario. In 1999, Advanced Telecom Services
moved its offices to Vancouver, British Columbia and began working with
Telus for provision of Canadian 900 numbers.
In 2005, with the acquisition of
Spark Network
Services, ATS began offering 900 services with
Bell Canada in Toronto. In 2008, ATS began offering 900 number
services with Triton of Calgary in
addition to Bell Canada. Advanced Telecom Services is proud to be offering
Canadian 900 numbers for its second decade.
The Canadian 900 number system is similar to that of the United States and
was actually patterned after the American model. The only difference in Canada
is that the Canadian provincial phone companies charge .35 per minute and 10% of
the cost of the call plus $100.00 per month. All fees are in Canadian dollars,
of course.
The most natural initial extension of an American pay per call program is to
expand those services to other English-speaking countries, specifically to
Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Advanced Telecom Services can establish your 900 number service in each of these
countries, thus offering you one-stop shopping to maximize your revenue. Since
the countries share many cultural similarities, and often participate in the
same media, it’s a great way to immediately make more money from your 900
program.
