A Starter Guide To Mobile Coupons

Dana Point, California – Bob Bentz, president of Advanced Telecom Services, was featured in the October 14, 2009 issue of iMediaConnection with an article about mobile coupons.

The article, entitled “A Starter Guide to Mobile Coupons,” laments that many US consumers already have their minds made up that they don’t wish to receive marketing messages on their cell phones. Bentz counters that mobile marketing and mobile coupons are opt-in marketing and that is precisely what makes mobile so efficient; people ask for your advertisements.

Part of the problem is that we all receive so many spam messages on our emails. “… mobile marketing will never be like email marketing because there is an intrinsic cost to send the text message,” wrote Bentz. “Hence, sending spam messages to cell phones without targeting simply wouldn’t work from an ROI perspective.”

One of the great advantages of mobile coupons, added Bentz, is that they can be sent at the time when consumers are most likely to buy. He gives the example of Subway, a customer of mobile marketing site 84444.com, which sends its broadcast mobile coupons to its opt-in database just before lunch time.

Bentz also gives a benefit that many of us probably haven’t thought of. Mobile coupons are part of many businesses’ “going green” initiatives.

“And, that’s good for all of us, whether we are coupon users or not.”
