Text Message Voting Chooses Ski Goggles for British Olympian

Mountain View, California – In the upcoming Vancouver Olympics, a British Olympic ski team member will be wearing adidas ski goggles chosen for him or her via text message voting.

Adidas, which sponsored the contest, coordinated a text message voting application in conjunction with its agency Talenthouse. Fans from the UK, the USA, and around the world voted by SMS for the best design of the adidas iD2 ski goggles. The top ten vote getters’ goggles were then submitted to adidas which chose the eventual winner.

The winner of the contest was John Filipe of Portugal. “This design is basically a dynamic adaptation of the British flag on the goggles having in mind the keywords: speed, fire, and ice melting,” said Filipe. “The British theme in the design is subliminal. My intention was not to make it that obvious.”

Advanced Telecom Services coordinated the text message voting program for the adidas ski goggles promotion. “We were honored to work with such a nationally-renowned brand such as adidas,” said Bob Bentz, president of Advanced Telecom Services. “It will be really cool to see an Olympian wearing the ski goggles and knowing that our company and text message voting played a small role in the Vancouver Olympics.”

Vancouver 2010 Olympics will begin on February 12, 2010. Television coverage in the UK will be on the BBC and in the USA on NBC.

“I just hope the athlete that wears the goggles that John Filipe designed will win gold,” said Bentz. “Then, maybe we can get them for the text message hall of fame.”
