ATS Goes Green
Now, more than ever, we must be conscious of our Earth. Here are some sobering facts:
- In prehistoric times, 60% of the earth's surface was covered by forests - today that amount has been reduced by 30% and is still shrinking.
- It takes 390 gallons of oil to produce a ton of paper.
- That ton of paper, when disposed of, takes up nearly 8 cubic feet of public landfill space
- Each person in an office on average uses 2.5 pounds of paper each week.
- Americans discard 4 million tons of office paper every year -- enough to build a 12 foot high wall of paper from New York to California.
At Advanced Telecom Services we recognize the fragility of the Earth. That is why we have launched our Go Green Campaign. We will no longer send out paper invoices to our vendors. We encourage everyone to use scanning as a way of supporting copies of important data and we have taken all stored paper and brought it to our local recycling facility.
An important aspect of saving the earth can be facilitated every single day by using paper on each side. At ATS we reuse paper in our copier and our fax machine so that each side is used and then eventually, recycled.
We never buy pads of paper for note taking or message writing. We utilize the reverse side of previously made copies or printouts for this purpose also. And whenever possible, we take notes on laptops and computers.
In addition to our efforts to save paper, we also provide a link on our website where you can recycle your old cell phone for cash.
While recognizing that our effort may be only a small drop in the bucket of waste on this Earth, we hope that our actions will encourage other companies, both large and small to Go Green as well.
