Mobile Apps Sales reach $1.6 billion in USA

No one can deny it.  Apps are hot!

In the first quarter 2010, more than 50,000 new apps were added to Apple’s App Store.

The Yankee Group estimates that apps will generate $1.6 billion in revenues in the US alone this year.

Prices of apps vary.  Some of the top sellers in apps are games.  Doodle Jump, which sells for a measly 99 cents, was downloaded 3 million times this year.  The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, offers its app for a lofty $17.29 per month.  Within the first two weeks of its availability, it was downloaded over 3000 times.
