Greg Ciaverelli: 1965 – 2011

One of the great things about being involved in an organization like Advanced Telecom Services is that you get to meet a lot of great people.  Sadly, we have lost one of them.

Greg Ciaverelli

Gregory A. Ciaverelli, who worked in the engineering department at Advanced Telecom Services, passed away on January 6, 2011.  Greg was 45-years-old.

He worked for Advanced Telecom Services from 1993 through the 2000′s.  From all of the friends Greg made during his many years of service at ATS, we wish his family the best in this difficult time.

Radio Advertising Shows Growth in 2010

ON THE AIR: Radio advertising showed 17% growth in 2010.

The radio industry had a great year in 2010 thanks to a bounceback from auto advertising and a strong political season.  National spot radio saw 17.7% growth in 2010 versus 2009 with auto leading the way with a whopping 27.4% increase.  Quarter 1, 2011, however, is really impressive as it is pacing at over 70% increase over quarter 1 in 2010.

Smartphone Ownership by Race

When it comes to owning the latest cell phones, Asians and Hispanics are the ones on top of their game.  While 31% of all Americans now own a smartphone, for Asians and Hispanics that number rises to a whopping 45%!  Just 27% of Whites own a smartphone.  33% of Blacks own a smartphone.

No doubt, some of the reason for the ownership figures are that the Asian and Hispanic populations tend to be younger than the national average.  But, if you are trying to reach the market with sophisticated mobile marketing offers, having a Spanish version would be a good idea.
