Text Message Voting Chooses British Olympic Ski Team Goggles

In just a month, the sports world will come together in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  And,

Text messe voting will choose the ski goggles for British ski team.

Advanced Telecom Services will be there.

Well, in a way.

Advanced Telecom Services has been chosen as the service bureau for the Adidas Olympic Ski Goggles Design contest.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for designers around the world.

Designers are able to customize a pair of Adidas iD2 goggles to be worn by a British athlete competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics.  The public will vote via premium SMS text message in the UK and the USA for the winning goggles.  Text message voting will identify the top 10 finalists.  The finalists will each receive several pairs of the iD2 Adidas ski goggles to implement the actual design onto the goggles and then return the sample to Adidas.

Adidas will choose the ultimate winner from the ten finalists.  The winning design will be implemented on the ski goggles worn by a 2010 Winter Olympian from the British ski team.

VoiceTone For Rotary Dial Phones

When Advanced Telecom Services began in 1989, it wanted a differentiator

In 1990, 38.5% of US households used rotary dial phones like this one.

in the IVR marketplace.  It wanted something so that it could deliver value to the caller over what other 800 number IVR and 900 number service bureaus offered.

That differentiator was VoiceTone — ATS’s exclusive voice recognition software that enabled rotary dial callers to say their selection as opposed to pressing it on a touchtone phone.

While speech recognition might seem commonplace today, back in 1990, it was far from common.  Rotary callers were simply not able to interact with automated telephone systems until Advanced Telecom Services’ VoiceTone came on the scene.

And, back in 1990, this was a significant market as 38.5% of all households used rotary dial phones!  (See Page 199 of Adult Literacy and New Technologies).

Landline Phones in World

The total number of landline phones in the world reached 1.27 billion in 2008 which is 0.6 % more than in 2007, according to a study by Research and Markets.

While erosion of landline phones occurred in North America and western Europe, increses in Asia, Middle East, and Africa more than offset the losses in North American and western Europe.

There are now 595 million mobile phone subscribers in the Middle East and Africa–a 30% increase over the previous year.

China was by far the largest market in the world in 2008 for landline phones with 340 million subscribers.  Chinese landline phones represent 27 % of the entire world’s subscribers to fixed lines.

ATS-London Provides TeleText Dating

ATS-London provides TeleText dating application for television.  The service is called 121 Dating and consists of text classified advertisements on the television screen.

Singles are divided based on region within the United Kingdom and by sexual preference.  Interested singles can then browse the classified advertisements via their television remote.

teletext allows you to find a date while watching TV in the UK.

Finding a date on TV is easy with teletext.

ATS-Prague Office

One of the great success stories of Advanced Telecom Services has been its office in Praha, Czech Republic.  The office was established in 1997 as ATS’s fourth country location following its expansion from the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, and then Czech Republic.

The first meeting held to discuss the establishment of ATS-Praha was held at the Imperial Cafe in Prague.

Background in media sales is preferred.  Geographic preference for the job is in ATS’s Philadelphia office, although any American applicant will be considered.
