Canadian Text Message Use

Text message growth around the world is nothing short of phenomenal and Canada is certainly part of this trend. Take a look at just how much Canadians are texting: 4.9 billion peer-to-peer text messages were sent in September 2010. The total number of person-to-person text messages sent during the first nine months of 2010 was 40 billion. In September 2010, Canadians sent an average of 163 million messages per day. In September 2010, an average of 204 text messages were sent per subscriber per month. Canadians sent and received a total of 560 million text messages from short codes in Q3 of 2010. Canadians sent more than 12.1 billion person-to-person text messages in the first quarter of 2010. In March 2010 alone, text messages totaled nearly 4.2 billion, or approximately 135.4 million messages per day.
