Canadian 900
Number Provider Moves to Toronto
Toronto – Advanced Telecom Services has announced that it
has moved its Canadian 900 number and Canadian 800 number service bureau
to Toronto from its current location in Vancouver.
Advanced Telecom Services had processed its Canadian 900
number and Canadian 800 number calls in Vancouver with Telus (formerly known as
BC Tel) from 2000 to 2007. With Telus choosing to exit the Canadian 900 number
industry, however, Advanced Telecom chose to move the existing Canadian 900 numbers
to Bell Canada. ATS’s subsidiary, Spark
Network Services, has been using Bell Canada 900 number services
exclusively since 1995.
“Bell Canada has been in the forefront of the Canadian 900 number
business since its inception in 1993,” said Bob Bentz,
long-time director of marketing at Advanced Telecom Services. “I was involved
with Bell Canada in the establishment of the original 900 number rules back in
the early 90’s. It’s great to be back partnering with Bell Canada and its 900
number services.”
From 1993 through 2000, Advanced Telecom’s engineering
facilities were located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in partnership with Maritime
Telephone & Telegraph. Maritime Telephone & Telegraph is now known as Aliant
after its merger with Island Telecom, New Brunswick Telecom, and NewTel from Newfoundland.
“Our sales offices have been in Mississauga, Ontario for
many years,” said Bentz, “and so many of our customers have been in Toronto
over the years. It will certainly be more convenient to get there from our
corporate headquarters in Philadelphia.”
Advanced Telecom Services, and its Chicago-based subsidiary
Spark Network Services, have been providing newspaper
voice personals and radio voice
personals via interactive
voice response (IVR) for over 15 years. More recently, it began offering internet personals through its MatchLink brand
and mobile personals through its MatchLinkMobile
brand.
