Meet the ATS Team

Bob Bentz
President
Bob Bentz is the President and Director of Marketing and Sales at Advanced Telecom Services with key responsibilities in product development, domestic and international marketing strategies, and sales and media relations.

He guided the company from a start-up to a company with over $62 million in annual sales through offices in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Taiwan, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.  Bentz is the author of the best selling book on the 900 number industry “Opportunity is Calling: How to Start Your Own 900 Number.”  The Pennsylvania native is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows and has authored numerous articles that have appeared in national publications such as Money magazine, Inc., and USA Today.

Prior to founding Advanced Telecom Services, Bentz worked in television advertising with Post-Newsweek and ABC.  He received a BS in Journalism from West Virginia University and an MBA in Marketing from Marshall University.

Paul Hehn
CFO
Paul Hehn is an owner and Chief Financial Officer of Advanced Telecom Services, Inc., a leading IVR company and mobile marketing service provider established in 1989 with offices in Philadelphia, Chicago, London, and Prague. Paul manages all aspects of the company’s worldwide financial operations including financial reporting, taxation, M&A, asset management, HR, and strategic planning. Paul joined ATS in 1995 as Controller and has served as CFO since 1997. He has been integral in managing the Company’s domestic growth, negotiation and implementation of successful acquisitions, and the establishment of its international operations.

Paul also serves as the CFO of Advanced Mobile, LLC. which he helped found in 2006 as a spin-off from Advanced Telecom. The company is a forerunner in the development of turn-key B2B mobile marketing and custom smart phone applications generating high quality leads for its clients. Paul oversees the Company’s financial operations.

Paul is a CPA, and formerly a senior tax manager in the Philadelphia office of KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP where he served for eight years from 1987 through 1994. Paul graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a BS in Accounting in 1987. He is a member of the AICPA and PICPA and serves as a director on the board of Free For All, Inc. Scott Bronenberg
Regional Sales Manager
Scott Bronenberg is Regional Sales Manager for Advanced Telecom Services.  Before joining Advanced Telecom Services, Bronenberg worked in New Business Development at Cohen-Friedberg Associates–a Framingham, Massachusetts sales promotion agency.

Bronenberg, has extensive experience in the Philadelphia media world. He has worked as an Account Executive at KYW-CBS3 and CW Philly 57 and was National Sales Manager at Davidson Media Group’s La Mega 1310–a Spanish radio station in Philadelphia. Bronenberg also worked as Account Manager for Non-Traditional Revenue at Clear Channel Radio-Philadelphia.

The East Norriton, PA, resident has an interesting background in promotions. He worked as Director of Fan Fun for Action Sports America. At Action Sports America, Bronenberg did promotions with high profile clients such as the Dallas Mavericks, Atlantic 10 Conference, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees.

John Geary
Product Manager – Apps
John has the final responsibility for all of the company’s mobile application clients.  John’s current clients include the Golf Channel, Metropolitan Golf Association, Unites States Golf Association, US Lacrosse, USA Hockey and Cars2Go. He also assists on the Comcast Sports Group relationship.He has extensive experience as an entrepreneur and senior business leader within the mobile industry.  He was a Founder and CEO for myLEADERBOARD, Inc., a pioneer in the on-site mobile fan enhancement business for professional golf tournaments.  He led the design and project management teams which developed the inaugural mobile applications for the U. S. Open, the Ryder Cup and for CBS College Sports.Prior to entering the mobile industry in 2004, he had a successful institutional financial services career representing Fidelity and American Express and was responsible for selling billions of dollars in investment management services to corporations.  He received a B.S.F.S. from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.John coaches the Merion Mercy girls varsity lacrosse team and is an active member of the Philadelphia lacrosse community.

Brad Bierman
Account Executive
Brad Bierman has worked in sales at Advanced Telecom Services in different phases of the company’s evolution.  Brad originally joined ATS in 1990 after a stint as an Information Provider on the Syracuse University sports information 900 line, and more recently has several years experience assisting ATS clients with their mobile marketing initiatives.

Before joining ATS, Brad was the sports director at WSYR Radio in Syracuse, handling various on-air duties of the state-wide Syracuse University football and basketball network.  Brad also helped start well-known sports websites Rivals.com and Scout.com.  Brad is a graduate of the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at (guess where) Syracuse University.

Brad remains a big Orange follower today and operates the SUJuiceOnline.com site that reports on all things Orange athletics.  He lives in the Philadelphia suburbs.  You can find Brad Bierman on LinkedIn.

Jim Marnie
Account Manager
Jim Marnie is Account Manager for Advanced Telecom Services. Jim began as a part-time intern at ATS while studying Marketing and Sales at West Chester University. Following graduation, Jim started working full-time as an Account Manager while handling sales and various marketing duties.

Frank Butler
Vice President of Engineering
Frank Butler is Vice President of Engineering for Advanced Telecom Services. Frank joined ATS in 1995 and oversaw all technical activities in support of ATS automated telephony, web and mobile services for almost 10 years.

Before coming to ATS, Frank spent 15 years with AT&T Bell Laboratories as a systems engineer, software developer, and technology and business manager. Frank also held several positions including Director of Network Operations for Met-Net Communications and Manager of Application Development for the Project Management Institute.

Frank holds a Masters Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration from Rutgers University. He is also an accomplished drummer and percussionist and often unwinds on the weekends playing gigs with several area bands. You can find Frank Butler on LinkedIn.

Neal Moersen
Computer Engineering Manager
Neal Moersen is the Computer Engineer at Advanced Telecom Services.  He recently joined ATS in 2010 and works with most technological operations.  Moersen has lived in both South Carolina and Texas, but currently resides in Pennsylvania.  He studied Computer Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and graduated cum laude from Clemson University with a BA in history.  He went on to pursue his education at Villanova University.

Neal enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and participating in fantasy baseball leagues.  He is a certified iOS application developer and a true southern gentleman.

Frank Mazza
Graphic Design Manager
Frank Mazza is our graphics designer and well-known as one of the originators of the Custom QR Code.  Frank is a real Philly boy having grown up in South Philly just down the road from Citizen’s Bank Park.  Mazza is a graduate of Neumann University where he graudated summa cum laude with a BA in Graphics Design.

Frank is a real entrepreneur.  In addition to his work at ATS, he also operates a t-shirt design company and owns a popular sports blog called Philly Sports Live.  You can find Frank Mazza on LinkedIn.

Andrew Campbell
Mobile Engineering Manager
Andrew Campbell grew up in nearby Pottstown, Pennsylvania.  Andrew was a huge gamer growing up so he knew that retail wasn’t really his future so he joined ATS as a programmer instead of continuing a career in retail management with Wal-Mart.

Andrew can skate a good game of ice hockey and is, not surprisingly, a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan.

Margie Varallo
Accounting Manager
Margie Varallo is the accounting manager at Advanced Telecom Services and is responsible for the billing department at the company.  Margie graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Finance.

Margie has season tickets to the Phillies and can often be found dancing at nightclubs.

Anthony Wayne
Marketing Manager

Anthony Wayne is marketing manager at ATS.  He has risen through the ranks of the company and has worn many hats (except in this caricature) throughout his 20+ years with the company, including: receptionist; technical assistant; ringtone development manager; account manager; marketing manager.

Anthony attended Valley Forge Academy where he was captain of the squash team and an Eagle Scout.  After serving two years in the Army, he attended Washington & Jefferson College where he majored in Geography.  After completing a successful internship at ATS, he was brought on full time to the organization and has been here ever since, except for a (very) short, and not well thought out, career in professional wrestling.

In his spare time, Anthony coaches youth sports teams and is a Boy Scout Leader.

Barb Komisar
Marketing Assistant
Barb Komisar is the Marketing Assistant at Advanced Telecom Services.  Before joining the ATS team, she worked in computer programming at Southern New England Telephone company, a local exchange carrier in Connecticut owned by AT&T.  After moving to Pennsylvania, she worked as the marketing director for the Arthur Ashe Foundation.  The Arthur Ashe Foundation’s main goal is to defeat AIDS, while also promoting good health, proper education, and equality among inner-city children.

Barb graduated from the University of New Haven with a BS in Law Enforcement Sciences.  At home, she is the loving mother of two children and a volunteer foster mom at Almost Home, a no-kill animal rescue organization.  In her free time, she loves to read and go to the beach.

Brittany Bentz is a marketing associate and is responsible for copywriting on the company websites as well as public relations.  Make no mistake about it, Brittany’s hiring was purely a case of nepotism as she is the daughter of the president of the company.

We are not sure why Brittany had her caricature done as a cheerleader, as she’s never been a cheerleader in her life.  She excels at baseball and basketball and is a huge Phillies and Clemson Tigers fan.  You can find Brittany Bentz on LinkedIn.

Celeste Prantl
Customer Service Manager
Celeste Prantl is the head of Customer Service here at Advanced Telecom Services.  She grew up on the other end of the state and worked in the famous Prantl’s Bakery in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh.  Celeste graduated with a BS in History from John Carroll University in Cleveland and also holds an Art History degree from the Barnes Foundation.

Celeste is involved in the Radnor Educational Foundation and can be found cheering for her daughter who plays lacrosse at Vanderbilt University and her son who is a scratch golfer.  When not at work, you can usually find Celeste in Hilton Head, SC.  You can find Celeste on LinkedIn.
