Mobile Marketing - "Reach your customers anywhere..anytime "
Cell phone penetration in the United States now exceeds that of the internet. And, as cell phone penetration continues to grow, internet has flattened out.
Mobile Marketing allows a brand, media, or content provider to target subscribers anytime, anywhere with its message. Whether they are at home, at work, in the car, or traveling on business or vacation, mobile marketing never rests.
If this is your first mobile marketing campaign, we realize that some of the terminology may appear daunting. Therefore, it is important that you understand the basic terms associated with a mobile marketing campaign.
Text Message – Also known as SMS (Short Message Service), a text message is up to 160 characters in length and can be sent from a computer to a cell phone or from a cell phone to a cell phone.
Standard Rate Text Message – This type of text message, sent through a common short code, is free to the consumer. If the consumer does not have a text message plan, he or she may have to pay a fee to the carrier for receiving a text message.
Premium SMS – Premium SMS means the user of the service will be charged an incremental fee to participate in a program. The charge will appear on the consumer’s cell phone bill.
Mobile Origination (MO) – Mobile Origination means that the consumer has originated the text message sent to the short code. In other words, if a radio station announces on air that it is giving away tickets to a concert, and the listener responds by sending a text message to the short code to enter the contest, then the listener has sent an MO text message.
Mobile Termination (MT) – Mobile Termination means that the opt-in consumer has received a text message from a short code. For example, a radio station might send a text message to its opt-in VIP Club announcing a pre-sale of front row tickets to an upcoming concert; this would be an example of an MT text message.
Opt-In – Text message promotions are subject to Spam laws and there are significant fines for violating Spam laws. Therefore, a consumer must “opt-in” to your promotion before further contact with that consumer is permitted. Advanced Telecom Services takes the opt-in laws very seriously and will not knowingly permit any of its customers to run any promotions that violate this policy.
Opt-Out – Consumers must have the opportunity to opt-out of promotions at any time. This is normally done by sending a text message with the word “stop” in it. Fortunately for you, our systems are all designed to handle opt-outs so you don’t have to.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) – WAP is simply the wireless web. When you access the internet through your cell phone, you are accessing a WAP site and you are involved in a WAP session.
MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) – MMS is SMS on steroids. If you send a graphic or photo through your cell phone, you are using MMS technology.
Mobile marketing is here to stay. A whopping 43% of US marketers are planning to use mobile marketing in 2006 or 2007 (Source: Forrester Research). Nearly 90% of major brands plan to market to mobile phones by 2008 (Source: Airwide Solutions).
It’s time for your brand to take the plunge into the mobile marketing world, because…
“We’ve got your customers…right in their pockets.”
